Post trip to Peru…. 4 days from Cusco thru the Sacred valley and Machu Picchu!!

Interesting trip to the high country of Peru. Cusco, the sacred valley, and Machu Picchu. Fascinating scenery and history of the Incan Empire. However the altitude got to Patty and I both. Cusco is 11,000 feet and Machu Picchu is 7,700 feet. 4 nights of restless sleeping , headaches and out of breath!

We had a very patient encouraging guide that got us slowly, and with frequent stops, to the top of route 1 overlooking the ancient city of Machu Picchu.
A rewarding glass of wine on the narrow gauge train that took us on a 90 minute train ride from the sacred valley to Machu Picchu.
Guinea Pigs are a staple diet of the high country people. They keep them in their houses and readily available for the cook of the house .
Lots of sheep’s wool,
Alpaca wool, and
Llama wool roaming the country side
